After some question of rain, an early morning post on the KYMBA-Louisville site reported that the trail was good to go, so Bill, Stanley, Tony and I met up in the Kohl's parking lot in Frankfort for the 1 hr drive to Waverly Hills Park. The weather a trail conditions turned out perfect and we managed to hit most of trails at Waverly - logging in a little over 10 miles. We started with what I considered the most challenging trail in the park. Beginning just up from the playground parking lot (clockwise on the lavender trail) and running near the road back towards towards the entrance we found some strong, intermediate drops with lots of tight turns and quick climbs. It then crosses the road and is full of very fast downhill sections eventually intersecting with a more mellow trail called the "Clinic Loop"(red trail). We finished up with possibly the second most challenging loop trail in the park. I think it was called Twisting and Winding Loop (or something like that - magenta trail on map). I'm not sure how the trails were constructed but it seems that this last loop was probably a hand cut trail and is more narrow and tighter than the others. It certainly lived up to its name with lots of fast and interesting moves and eventually dropping us out just below the lake leaving only a short ride on the road back to the cars. 2 thumbs up for these awesome trails - well done KYMBA Louisville.
