Motobecane Sizing
PR:
Anyone on here riding a motobecane? Would you admit to it?
I'm thinking about giving one a shot (29er), and I'm probably borderline sizewise. 5'8", 30" inseam. Bikesdirect says that a 15" fits up to 5'8", and that a 17" fits up to 5'10". My first thought is to go with the bigger frame. I'd appreciate any info, and would really like to ride one (15 or 17) if anyone here in kymbaland has one in their stable. Thanks!
(My current HT is a 16" Airborne Lancaster; it's 16" from the cc to the top tube, and 18" from the cc to the top of the seat tube. Airborne ti frames have relatively long top tubes (opposite of Litespeeds). Although I have a short torso, I like a stretched out cockpit. That's why I'm wondering about the 17" niner.)
SuperJETT:
My wife has a 15" Fantom 29. It's a good bike, great value for the $600 it cost last year, even after putting some Stroker Trails on it.
I'm 5'10" with 32-33" inseam and it's kind of small for me, I'd probably be on a 17" if I bought one. I do think their newer Gravity 29" line is a hair bigger on sizing so you may be one of those in between sizes.
If you're around Louisville sometime and want to see how it fits/rides, just hit me up.
PR:
I'm looking at a 2x10 fly... Damn, I wish I was closer to the 'ville. I'd be over for a test ride.
PR:
How tall is your wife? Does the 15 fit her ok?
SuperJETT:
She's 5'6" and the 15" is great for her, though she has a long torso/shortish legs compared to my proportions.
I'll try to look at the geometry on the current ones compared to her's and see what the differences are.
