Roof rack

Been a Thule fan for a long time now.  The racks seem to hold up better than the Yaks and the feet that mount to the factory rails seem to be better engineered and use higher quality finishes.  I had a Yakima rack before I bought the Thule and it was nice, but the Thule just seemed better and more ergonomic when locking the quick release or closing the lever in the arm to clamp the jaw on the frame.  Either way, Thule and Yakima aren't cheap.  Rocky Mounts is a good alternative.  I have not personally owned anything by them, but I have used them on friends cars and suv's before and they seemed like a well engineered rack.  I'll post a pic of my latest Thule project if I have time this weekend in another thread.

If you read the post above you will see that this is not correct depending on what you buy.

On a non-roof related but rack-relevant note, Saris, as a company, blows goats and can go eat turds. This statement follows their handling of a broken Thelma hitch rack their failure to send items on time/at all and hundreds of $$$ in false charges on my credit card (making for a total of 4 separate screw-ups on one - what should have been - warranty issue). To say this is the worst bike industry warranty/ordering experience ever is saying a lot, and I'm saying just that.

My experience with their warranty department was much different, I had the part in a couple of days. They didn't ask any questions or for proof of purchase, I just had to provide address for shipping.  Now I can't say much for the product (I had their truck bed rack that used hydraulic pump to put pressure against the bed)  The new one worked for about 6 months before failing again.   It was not a good product and I am not even sure they make it any more.  I would purchase another product from them if it fit my needs.

I've had a Yakima with Viper trays for 8 years on 3 different cars.  It's been great.
