Please tell me a little about why you like or dislike any/all roof racks?
wolfie:
I really liked having one on my old car. Bike always felt safe an secure.

Rocky Mounts, lots of colors for personalization, easy to put on/take off, and holds my bike just fine. I had a Forrester with stock bars and got my Rocky Mounts from Goose creek cycle.

Stock cross bars on my outback fit the Thule Sidewinder just fine
I love the sidewinder rack either on the top or back of a car. Out of all the racks I have used over the years, I like it the best. I know some other brands out there have a similar mount, but I have not used them.
I will say that with the stock cross bars, I had to run one bike forward and one backward. I do plan on getting some of their cross bars to mount to the side rails so I can fit the 3rd bike on there.

@ bentcrank - I have a Thule T2 hitch rack that I believe is the same mechanism as what you have pictured. Didn't realize they made one for the roof.
I'm looking to have a single rack on the roof for the quick run across town or a solo trip to Waverly instead of removing/replacing the hitch rack all the time. Security is also an important factor that the sidewinder might not provide parked downtown.
