Wanted/For Sale / Giant Anthem X frame size L for sale
« on: September 22, 2012, 09:00:55 PM »
I'm selling my Giant Anthem X frame.  This is a fantastic bike and I won Cherokee and the 12 hours of Capital View on last year.  It is extremely efficient.  If interested let me know and we will work outside of ebay.  Here is the link to auction that includes pictures.  Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261102472227

The Cannondale looks like a really solid bike for less than a grand and you can test ride.   I would check it out.

I would also call the shops in Lexington.  I am not sure if they rent, but a quick phone call would get you an answer.  I know there is a Specialized shop and Pedal Power.

Wanted/For Sale / ISO: fork
« on: October 23, 2011, 12:09:15 PM »
Looking for a 100mm fork that has a disc brake mount. I am building up a winter bike, so I'm not looking for anything really nice.  The steerer tube needs to be at least 8.5 inches.  Post what you have.

Thanks,

Rod

Gear / Re: Tire rec for Stan's ZTR Arch ?

What pressure are you running? I run 25 lbs in my 2.4s and 28 lbs in my 2.2s.

I need a more accurate presta gauge as I don't trust my crappy floor pump. I'm sure both tires were well into the mid 30s.

I'm currently running a Nevegal on the rear and a Maxxis High Roller on the front. Both tires came with the used bike I bought a few months ago. The Maxxis is UST so maybe I'll slap it on the back but I believe it's pretty heavy. I'm an intermediate rider with lots of room for improvement so I just need to find something that feels right and start putting in the miles.

You will be able to change your tire pressure drastically when you go tubeless.  I've ran anywhere from 15-30 psi.  15 was too low on my high volume tire, but it worked well on a different tire on a smooth trail.  Most people run in the upper 20's.

I always run 40 psi front and rear.  Helps prevent flats and they grip well. Nevegal up front, Serac XC in the rear

I feel like I bounce all over the trail with this much tire pressure.

I have some glasses from performance that have interchangeable lenses.  I think they cost 25 or 30 dollars.  They slip just a little on my nose when I'm on my road bike in the drops, but I have managed.  It's very hard for me to find glasses to fit my small face.

I rode the gravel road last night.  With all of the wet weather that we've been having I'm hoping to give it a couple days to dry out.  I want to ride it before the horses get out there this weekend.

I know this thread is old, but on smooth trails the Python a great tire that's very fast, if you have decent bike handling skills.  I rode these front and back at the 12 hours of Frankfort. I had one small crash due to it being very loose on top, the corner was a 180 degree turn, and to make it worse I came in way too fast.  I'm going to try them front and back at Cave Run since it's finally starting to dry out.  I'll report back.

The trail is now open.  There is some chatter from the horse hooves, but a line should be getting worn in soon.  Watch out for horse droppings.  There are a few muddy spots, but you can avoid them.

My closest bike shop is 60-70 miles away so I buy my stuff online.  I do all of my own wrenching too.

I made the same thing that Chris posted, but I'm not completely happy with it.  It's a little hard for me to get my mountain bike in and out of it.  It lifts up off the floor.  It could easily be altered to fit your needs though.  I have mine glued together so I can't widen it, but it works.

Minh, would you consider the Manitou Black fork sold?  I would like to wait and see if Chris wants the Scareb fork as well.  I'm not from Louisville, but I'll drive down and pick it up sometime.  It'll give me a chance to ride a new trail system.
