Events/Races / Senokee MTB'athon (12-60 mile event)

RSVP here... http://www.meetup.com/Louisville-Mountainbikers/events/30606181/
NOTE: The first lap will require you to have a light since it starts before sunrise.
NOTE: Sorry this falls on a Cherokee trail day. Its the only Saturday I had available and several people have been asking me to post it. You can always join in on the last two laps after trail work if you want to.
Are you looking for an event to challenge your limits? Something to start training for? An event that has a lot of social time along with a LOT of riding time too? This event has something for almost everyone. Don't say "no way" until you give it some thought. You might just find you can do a lot more than you think you can! Choose one lap or up to five full laps!
Who: Anyone from beginners to advanced (NOTE: you need to be able to navigate the route by yourself if you fall behind the group)
What: Choose any or all of the five laps around the 12 mile Cherokee/Seneca loop. We will stop after each lap to rest and socialize at the Seneca ball court parking lot. Each lap will include one optional trip up and down Dog Hill! Each person will ride at their own pace and I'm sure groups will form. I plan on riding at about a 1:30 per lap pace or a little slower (7-8 mph) to try and make the full 60 miles.
When: 7am sharp (roll time), 9, 11, 1, 3 pm lap start times. Join one or all of the laps. How many can you do? After finishing a lap we will wait at the parking lot until the next start time. Each lap will start promptly at the time listed so you will need to be unloaded and ready to roll at start time or you can catch up with the group.
What to bring:
2-3 L hydration pack (we can refill at the Seneca restrooms after each lap as required)
Electrolytes. Highly recommended to prevent cramps for rides over 2 laps.
Mountain bike in perfect working order including a cleaned and lubricated chain
If you plan on all five laps... recovery drink (at least 16 oz and a few hundred calories per lap) or other energy source to take after each lap
You will need to eat if you ride more than two laps. An average size man will burn around 800-1000 calories a lap
Spare tube
Tire pump
Lots of will power
If it is raining or if the trails are muddy we will NOT meet.
